Creamy Avocado and Banana Smoothie

A delicious blend of avocado, banana and yoghurt.

I made this for the first time a couple of weeks ago and have been pleasantly surprised by the luscious taste! Not only that, but this thick smoothie combination is also quite healthy and it will keep you full for longer.

Avocado Health Benefits

Highly nutritious and is well-known for its numerous health benefits, which include:

  • Maintains healthy blood pressure levels
  • Reduces total cholesterol levels
  • Promotes good heart health
  • Supports metabolism and aids in weight loss
  • Helps increase antioxidant absorption
  • Promotes good eye health
  • Reduces risk of cancer
  • Helps nourish the skin
Banana Health Benefits

Another favourite among health enthusiasts as well as the general banana loving population of course! Here are some of the many health benefits of this delicious and full of vitamins and minerals fruit:

  • Helps to lower blood pressure levels
  • Reduces risk of cancer
  • Promotes good heart health
  • Helps to improve blood sugar and insulin levels
  • Aids in preserving memory and boosting mood

The first time I made this smothie I used strawberry-flavoured Actimel probiotic yoghurt drink (for some extra health boost). In proportion with the other two ingredients it created a perfectly smooth and rich texture.

It’s a simple recipe and it takes no more than 5 minutes to make. So here it is:

  • 1/2 medium-sized ripe avocado
  • 1 small ripe banana
  • 1 probiotic drink (such as Actimel – strawberry or original flavour) or 1/2 cup of yoghurt (plain or strawberry-flavoured (the one I used was this))

Peel and cut the avocado and banana into small pieces and put into a blender. Add the yoghurt (or probiotic yoghurt drink) and blend until smooth and creamy. Transfer into a glass or jar.

Serve cold and enjoy!
