What Food Labels Really Mean

The food store can sometimes be a confusing place. We’re all trying to eat healthily but sometimes it can be hard to know what’s healthy and what’s not. This infographic from HappyCleans looks at confusing food labels can be and will hopefully help you to make informed choices on your next trip to the store. For example, the world natural on food labels helps you to sell $40 billion worth of food every year.

Organic is what you should be looking for as these products must contain 95% organically produced ingredients. However, any guidelines relating to the word natural are only recommended and there are no official FDA guidelines.

Another confusing aisle at the store can be the bread aisle as the labels can be a bit misleading. For example, multigrain only means that the bread contains more than one grain and it does not mean it is more nutritional. 100% whole grain is what you should look for as it means every nutrient in the grain is accounted for in the bread.
