Septmeber 2016: Relaxing Yoga and Meditation Beach Retreat in Andalucia, Spain

Treat yourself this autumn to a wonderful and relaxing yoga and meditation retreat by the beach

I fell in love with yoga and its philosophy over 10 years ago when I first began to practice. Yoga, both on and off the mat, has taught me to be a more patient, compassionate and kind person. I continue to learn each day both from other great and inspiring teachers and from my own personal practice which allows me to connect with my inner self on a deeper level.

I experienced many of the health benefits of yoga, which inspired and motivated me to teach and help others.

Yoga is an ancient tradition that dates back to many centuries ago. Since then, numerous types of yoga have emerged. Though they may differ slightly in their teachings, their ultimate goal is very similar: to improve our health and wellbeing on all levels.

A yoga retreat is an amazing opportunity to fully emerge yourself in your practice while being away from home and all the distractions, responsibilities and work duties.

In my personal experience, going on a yoga retreat helped me to enrich and deepen my practice while also providing me with the opportunity to meet some wonderful people and to make new friends, who I still continue to keep in touch with today.

This September, I have the pleasure of being a guest instructor at a relaxing yoga and meditation beach retreat near Cadiz in Southern Spain.

The yoga retreat is suitable for all levels – from complete beginners to more advanced practitioners. It’s an opportunity for those participating to deepen their practice while enjoying a relaxing and fun holiday in the warm and sunny Spain.

We’ll begin each morning with meditation, followed by an hour and a half of yoga. There will be one more yoga class in the late afternoon too.

Each day you will be provided with three delicious vegetarian (or vegan) meals cooked with organically grown products from the local area.

The retreat will take place in September the 18th to 23rd, 2016.  You can find out more information on the complete program on my retreat page or visit Lucia Yoga Retreats where you can also book your place.

There is less than one week left until the 10% discount offer ends so hurry ! 🙂

I hope to see you there my dear yogis and yoginis!

Namaste.

the benefits of plant-based diet

4 benefits of plant-based diet

1. HIGHER LEVEL OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS

benefits of plant-based diet

Eat primarily plants and you will likely enjoy a higher level of health and wellness, thanks largely to the amount of vitamins and nutrients within foods in this particular group.

For instance, eating carrots supplies your body with a fairly high level of vitamin A, biotin, and vitamin K. And if you eat almonds regularly, your body is getting a decent amount of biotin, vitamin E, manganese, copper, vitamin B2, and more.

All of these nutrients are critical to the efficient and effective functioning of your body and all of its organs. In other words, eating a wide variety of plant-based foods can give you the nourishment you need to get and stay as healthy as you can be. Continue reading

how to stay healthy during the holiday season

5 tips on how to stay healthy during the holiday season

1. Eat slowly and chew your food well

Digestion begins in the mouth. Chewing your food well and eating slowly helps to release enzymes in your mouth which begin the breakdown of food nutrients.

Spend a minimum of 20 seconds for each bite (time it if you need to). Chew your food until it becomes liquid and there is nothing solid left in the mouth.

It takes up 20 minutes for your brain and stomach to register feelings of fullness. Therefore, through slow eating, you can avoid overeating.

Stay healthy over the holiday season. Cherish each mouthful, and be thankful for the food you have on your plate.  Especially around this time of the year when we are surrounded by friends and family, take a moment to be grateful for everything and everyone in your life. Be mindful of the food you are eating and enjoy each bite like it’s the last. It’s beneficial to practice this not only around the holiday season but of course throughout the whole year.
