Rich and creamy, spiced with nutmeg and cinnamon for extra festivity, this oatmeal is the perfect breakfast for the cold winter holiday.
As Christmas is fast approaching I have been feeling rather festive recently and I wanted to incorporate this Christmassy mood into my morning breakfast too!
I love oatmeal, as it’s so yum and filling, but it can become slightly boring after a while. That is why I try to play around with the ingredients I put into it, to make it a little different every now and again. This time, inspired by Christmas, I reached to the kitchen cupboard and grabbed two of my most favourite festive spices: cinnamon and nutmeg. The final result was a warm and deliciously aromatic oatmeal breakfast.
So I thought I will share this simple yet tasty recipe with you.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of oatmeal (or porridge oats)
- 2/3 cup of milk (or almond milk)
- 1/3 cup of evaporated milk (or coconut milk)
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon of peanut butter
- 1 medium banana (optional)
Directions:
Mix the oatmeal and the milks in a bowl and heat in a microwave in accordance to the cooking instructions on the oatmeal package. Once done add the honey, peanut butter and the spices and stir well. Serve warm.
Optional: Top the oatmeal with some banana slices.
~Enjoy~
