Morning Yoga Routine To Awaken and Energize

Yoga practice is great at any time of the day, but I do love to begin each new day with an energizing routine to help awaken the body and mind.

The above video is a routine that you can try at the start of your day too. It is not guided so you may wish to watch it once first to get a feel of the postures (asanas) involved.

The practice begins with a few rounds of sun salutations to warm up the body and increase the heart rate, before moving on to the main asana part.

It was my intention originally to add narration, however I am currently experiencing some microphone issues! Since it’s the first ever yoga video I have made any feedback will be more than welcome. Please feel free to comment below.  If you would really prefer some narration over the video then let me know, and I’ll find away to resolve the microphone issue. 🙂

Namaste!

Office Yoga : Gentle Stretches to Release Tension Whilst at Your Desk

If your work involves sitting at a desk for a prolonged period of time, it is important to give yourself breaks, to stretch and release tension in the muscles as well as to allow your eyes to rest.

The above video demonstrates some easy and effective stretches that you can do at your workplace. In addition, remember to take some time away from your computer or books every hour or so to refresh and maintain a good level of focus.

Yoga Poses to Aid Falling Asleep

If you are having difficulties falling asleep at night, practising a few yoga postures as demonstrated in this video can help you relax and unwind.

My personal favourite is the last pose – legs-up-the-wall. Practising this will gently increase the blood circulation towards the upper body and head, which can create a nice balance if you have been standing or sitting for a long time. It is also beneficial if you are stressed, fatigued, or jet-lagged.

Precautions : Avoid legs-up-the-wall pose if you suffer from hypertension (high blood pressure), glaucoma or hernia.

~Namaste~
