Yoga Poses to Aid Falling Asleep

If you are having difficulties falling asleep at night, practising a few yoga postures as demonstrated in this video can help you relax and unwind.

My personal favourite is the last pose – legs-up-the-wall. Practising this will gently increase the blood circulation towards the upper body and head, which can create a nice balance if you have been standing or sitting for a long time. It is also beneficial if you are stressed, fatigued, or jet-lagged.

Precautions : Avoid legs-up-the-wall pose if you suffer from hypertension (high blood pressure), glaucoma or hernia.

Buddhism : History and Philosophy

The Founder of Buddhism

Buddhism was founded by Shakyamuni Buddha (or Gautama Buddha), born in the late 6th century BC in a royal family, in Lumbini (originally North India, but now part of Nepal).

5–Minute Guided Meditation

This is a nice 5-minute meditation session that you can do alongside your usual Yoga practice as well as at the end of the day to unwind and relax.

Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed, and a comfortable position either sitting cross-legged with a separate cushion under your rear, ensuring that your back is straight, or laying down on your back with the palms facing up. Feel free to keep your eyes slightly open, or to gently close them to allow for full concentration.
